Jan van Well

Owner / Founder Jan is the owner and founder of the company van Well Consulting GmbH and can look back on more than 15 years of Supply Chain experience from which are more than 12 years’ in the Supply Chain Security sector. Known as a hands-on Senior Security Risk Mitigation Leader with a proven track record of protecting a major Tobacco Corporation’s people and assets and reducing losses by Organised Crime Group theft to the lowest level in a group of comparative Industries (where one full load theft could have incurred a loss of up to £5.5 Million.) All achieved through a combination of inclusive leadership, thorough threat and risk assessments leading to business enabling mitigation measures with a solution-oriented mind set and a keen eye towards bottom-line results. Jan started his professional foundation with an education as an aircraft electrician at a large German Airline. This was followed by studies in the field of mechanical engineering and economics. After the education program, Jan joined a large FMCG company, firstly working as a Procurement Manager, followed by a role in a Pan-European Project Management Office driving and supporting cost- reduction programs and projects - extending from small complexity reduction projects to large scale multi-million Euro factory closure programs. After gaining the advanced knowledge of PRINCE2® and MSP® Jan moved on to several international Project Management roles including, designing and implementing a Product recall capability for the entire Western European Primary Supply Chain from scratch; developing & implementing a Business Continuity model for 10 factories and an above market Supply Chain Hub within Western Europe. From thereon, Jan moved on to the role of Operations & Project Security Manager, firstly looking after Western Europe and later the role was extended to the Europe & North African Region. This role focused on the development of Logistics Security, managing general risks for vehicles on route as well as to counter specific threats such as known attacks. One major driver for the development of Logistics Security driven by Jan, was to successfully support smaller and medium enterprises to develop and implement threat based and intelligence led risk-based solutions. The overview of factory and warehouse Security and developing programs to fully integrate factory, warehouse, and transport Security was an additional responsibility, underlined by a rolling program of Security audits and reviews. Furthermore, Jan is a trained investigator with a proven record of successful investigations with extensive product recovery using his comprehensive international Security network.
